“Art is not in the object, it is in the perception of it, the object itself is the catalyst for art.
Art triggers the viewer to be active, with that I mean to think and reflect upon what they are experiencing.
If one is passive in one’s experience, then it is not art, but entertainment or craft.
Not engaging with art should not be confused with passively experiencing art.
If “art” is specifically designed to stimulate thought, then it is not art, but manipulation.
It is the viewer who determines if what they experience is art, the artist can only endeavour to create it, and will not always succeed, the artist might succeed for some but never for everyone.
It is the endeavour to create art that determines if an artist is, in fact, an artist.”
